CCTV or Closed-Circuit Television

What is CCTV?

Security Camera

The initials CCTV derive from “Closed-Circuit Television,” which, as its name indicates, refers to the construction of a surveillance circuit using cameras that cover a certain internal and/or external perimeter of an area to be monitored, where in most common cases the monitoring is centralized in one location (the security area) where one or more televisions are placed for continuous surveillance, in addition to continuously recording on physical and remote media what is happening on each camera.

What is it used for?

Well, the main objective of a CCTV solution is to delineate responsibilities and generate awareness of incidents and events for the possible clarification of unpleasant situations within a home or business.

It is also useful to prevent incidents related to the theft or robbery of goods or valuables, since the mere presence of cameras intimidates people and conditions their actions—in other words, they think twice before committing any crime.

In my home, how would it benefit me?

Well, let’s give you an example: you receive an unexpected visit where perhaps your family and other guests enter your house without restrictions, and the next morning you find that many things are missing; this is where the cameras will help you know who was responsible or how the items disappeared. In that and a thousand other ways, having your own CCTV can help.

In my business, what is its use?

We already talked about prevention, but we would also like to give you the following example:

When you go to make a purchase, the cashier charges you and gives you the wrong change—what can you do if you didn’t notice at the moment? Well, if the store has strategically placed cameras, you can refer to the video for clarification, and perhaps you’ll realize that you thought you paid with a 500 bill, but when you watch the video, you had paid with a 100.

There are many other benefits for your business.

What types of equipment can I acquire?

We have a wide catalog of cameras, but we will generally refer to what we most commonly offer:

Within our catalog, we offer IP cameras and TurboHD (analog) cameras. The difference between the two is simple: IP cameras provide secure transmission, high definitions, video compression, and video analytics integrated into the camera (motion detection, virtual tripwires, blind spots), and they can also function independently.

While TURBOHD cameras provide a continuous video stream up to 1080p at most, they do not offer individual security or video analytics.

PTZ Security Camera

PTZ Cameras:

These cameras are more robust and are used to cover larger areas, in addition to being more robotic as they include features such as people tracking, face detection, and other state-of-the-art utilities.

State-of-the-Art Design Software

To ensure the optimal design and planning of our CCTV projects, we use cutting-edge design software that allows us to create detailed 3D models, simulate camera coverage, and optimize installation plans. This advanced tool enables us to tailor each solution to your specific security needs.

And how can I store the video from the cameras?

For that, we have other specialized equipment where the storage capacity and video quality depend on the DVR or NVR you acquire. As mentioned earlier, a DVR is a Digital Video Recorder to which we can connect TurboHD cameras—usually with limited video quality—whereas NVRs are Network Video Recorders designed for IP cameras and offer superior advantages.

As mentioned, the capacity depends on what you acquire and is directly related to the number and capacity of the hard drives where the information will be stored; obviously, more hard drives mean more video capacity.
